Father: Arthur Burton HAWKEY (29 Aug 1858 - 6 Jan 1935)
Mother: Lucy VENESS (19 Dec 1859 - 29 Oct 1914)

Richard was educated at Camden Public School. His occupation was Blacksmith when he enlisted in Camden in July 1915 and served in the 6th Australian Light Horse Regiment.

He left Sydney on the 'Suffolk' 28 July 1915 and served in the Middle East.

Trooper Richard John HAWKEY was killed in action at Amman Palestine on 27 March 1918 age 24.
